John and Denise, By the looks of the home page, you had quite a fun Turkeyday. It sure is nice to have family close by for the holidays, isn’t it. We had a wonderful Thankgiving also with 15 of us gathered at Jan’s house in Talmadge to do basically the same thing you guys did (we didn’t get arrested though) and it was a full day of game playing and stuffing ourselves. Take care, and keep in touch. Love, David

I was telling Nathan last night that there were 31 days in this month: as we had passed Thanksgiving, I thought it was December already! We had a great Turkey day. Dad H. came first with a great big apple pie, AnneMarie and Thad and kids came with bread and other goodies, Dad and Mom L. brought potatoes and other goods, Darrell came next and other friends came to round out the crowd (with a ham and other items) . We had a 23 pound turkey, creamed onions, homemade breads, cranberry sauce, and all the fixings. It all disappeared in a hurry! I think everyone  really enjoyed themselves. We played games of cribbage, games on the computer and on the Play Station. Even the youngest was good at those!    PICTURES

In addition, Thad and AnneMarie’s kids (and the rest still here then) had a fun time playing “Cops and Robbers”. Darrell handcuffed everyone and threw them in the back seat of his cop car.   PICTURES    He also demonstrated for us all the equipment he uses.

Dear Family, A quick note to let you know that I recently returned from visiting Jim and Michelle at Fort Bliss in El Paso, Texas. They are very happy and healthy, and I had a very nice visit. The big news is that Michelle is expecting their first child, our first grandchild, sometime in the first part of May. Michelle’s first checkup and blood work showed that mother and baby are doing fine. They (and Jean and I ) are very excited!    Love, David

Everything is fine here, Denise is off on a trip to Texas, she will be returning tonight about 9PM. We are getting ready for Thanksgiving! Everyone who reads this is welcome to come over and have Turkey with us!! So far about 10 of us will be together!!

I’m fine, still commuting up to Seattle occasionally. We had a good Halloween. I Trick-or-Treated with Stephen and some neighbor kids. Stephen was Darth Vader. Stephanie is so grown up now. She looks beautiful in her Homecoming picture (even if her date this year looked a little, how shall we say, dorky?). I will try to scan the picture and send it to John to add to the family home page.   I’m zipping along with my latest hobby, hang gliding, which I mentioned in my previous mails. Two big landmarks:  At yesterday’s lesson I made two launches and excellent flights from the top of the 50 foot hill for the first time. Most of my training has been on a 30 foot hill, or even on the flat. The wind conditions were right and I got a lot of lift, which made for fun flights. I have a lot more control now, but I’m still on straight flights. I’m working on developing gentler landings.   The second item is that I have a glider now. It is a Pacific Airwave Vision Mk IV-19, a good glider for beginner/intermediate pilots. It has a wing span of 32.5′ and weighs about 65 lbs. It has 185 sq ft of sail area. It is almost new and I got a good deal on it (less than 1/3 retail). I found it on the web, but the seller was local. I keep it in a 20′ 12″ PVC tube I mounted on top of the motorhome. You should be able to see it by clicking on the link below (I don’t know who the girl in the pictures is, I didn’t take these pictures). I haven’t flown it yet, but I hope to by next month. That’s all for now, Don

We had a great weekend! Started off with a party Friday night at which I was the most embarrassed guest (Denise had Merry Minstrel come by) then on Saturday we went to Guavaween had a great time, got lost on the way back to the car and had Tampa Police pick us up and give us a ride! Then yesterday spent the day playing on the computers!
