We had a good weekend, went to visit dad and went kayaking. We also did some shopping for my trip. As I write this I am in the terminal at Tampa waiting for my plane to Atlanta. They have a wireless system here, free!, so I can get my email and surf the net. The FTP has been disabled though so I cannot upload this until later.

On “our spoil island” that we kayak to from out back I found about 100 “crucifixion” fish all over the island. I picked up a few (see below).

I went to Picnic Island on Monday as part of my work, I took the following pictures there:

A fiddler crab.

My car!

Where we are going to design a boardwalk.

This evening we will be getting together in Atlanta for an initial briefing, my plane does not leave for another hour so I have time. The limo picked me up early so I did not have time to do my last check and left some clothes behind. I had been working on getting my computer set up for dial up access so that I could use it in Alabama. My modem in my new computer does not work properly, so I tried to move my stuff to the old computer, but had not too much luck. What a panic at the last hour! I ended up abandoning the old computer and hope I can find either wireless or cable somewhere!

Hurricane Katrina

I thought it was fun, now it is not.

I have been watching the news closely for days. No more fun, this has become serious.

And now I am going to go over and see for myself – and maybe help. The company that has hired me notified me a few minutes ago that they are sending me to Atlanta on Wednesday September 7 and Thursday the 8th for a quick training, then I will be heading down to the devastated area on Friday September 9.

Wish me luck!

We are over here in Daytona Beach enjoying the sunshine. Pam’s daughter Natalie got married yesterday. Pam and Natalie did the whole thing themselves!! And it was quite the wedding!
