This is a day that never will come again. A profound thought!

Hi John J

I thought I’d send you a new picture to update my part of your page; I’ve lost some weight since that last picture was taken! Let me know if you can’t see the picture!

I hope you’re having a nice spring so far! It’s been beautiful up here until about a day or two ago when it started to SNOW again!!! It’s frustrating to go from 60 degree weather (on Saturday!) to 30 degrees and SNOW yesterday and today!! But that’s ok, we all know Spring and Summer will get here eventually, we just have to be patient!

Have a good day!

Courtney

I think Courtney is growing up!!

A local man brought a tiger over for the vet to see next to our office the other day. Someone brought out a little white dog for a walk, the tiger sat up very quickly!

We did not do much last weekend, just to Dunedin to the Highlander festival.REMINDER……
Cell phone numbers someday may be released to telemarketing companies and you will start to receive annoying sales calls (Pam and I each received one last month!). Even more annoying   . .  also unjust . . .   you will be charged for these calls.

Call this number from your cell phone:
1- 888-382-1222 (or from your regular phone).
It is the national DO NOT CALL list.  It only takes a minute of your time. It blocks your number for 5 years.
Even better; go to www.donotcall.gov, you can enter three numbers there.

We went to the Gulfport Walking Theatre last night. It was even better than last year’s! Very cute skits put on at various places outdoors. It was cool but nice!

John,

I ran a check on David’s name and got the info about this David Allen
Herrick being a sexual offender,  As it turns out, when I worked at Mt.
Desert PD in the early nineties, I dealt with this David Herrick who was
getting out of prison and bothering his ex-wife,  I ended up arresting him
for violating a protection order.  Small world.

Another example of a small world occurred last week.  I have been doing
“Angel Flights” for patients who cannot afford commercial flights or
withstand long trips by car to a doctor’s appointment, last year I did 23
of these flights. see web site www.angelflightne.org  For instance, a week
ago Thursday, I flew a couple from Belfast to Frenchville  (Fort Kent),
returning home after a doctor’s appointment in Belfast.  This was the first
time I’ve flown into Fort Kent.  It was dark when I arrived, but it was
nice visiting my birthplace even for a short time,

The small world thing occurred this week when I signed up for a flight from
Presque Isle to Portland and back with a 53 year old woman named Karen Hilt
from Presque Isle.  As usual, Angel Flight called ahead and gave her my
name.  When I called her, she asked me if I ever lived in Presque Isle.  As
we talk, she told me her maiden name was King and her family grew up across
the street from our Centerline Road Home in Presque Isle.  She had 5
brothers and sisters and I’m sure you must remember some of them.  She
remembered our name and a few things about our family but if you ever dated
her John, I’m afraid you never made much of an impression.  As it happened,
we got an ice storm and I could not do the flight.  I’ll probably run into
her again.

Say hi to all,

Dan

We went to the St. Petersburg Grand Prix today and had a great time!

Grand Prix

In all, a nice day!

A farmer had some puppies he wanted to sell. He painted a sign advertising the 4 pups and set about nailing it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was driving the last nail into the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. He looked down into the eyes of a little boy.
“Mister,” he said,
“I want to buy one of your puppies.”
“Well,” said the farmer, as he rubbed the sweat of the back of his neck, “These puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal of money.”
The boy dropped his head for a moment. Then reaching deep into his pocket, he pulled out a handful of change and held it up to the farmer. “I’ve got thirty-nine cents, is that enough to take a look?”
“Sure,” said the farmer. And with that he let out a whistle. “Here, Dolly!” he called. Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy pressed his face against the chain link fence. His eyes danced with delight.
As the dogs made their way to the fence, the little boy noticed something else stirring inside the doghouse. Slowly another little ball appeared, this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid.
Then in a somewhat awkward manner, the little pup began hobbling toward the others, doing its best to catch up.

“I want that one,” the little boy said, pointing to the runt.
The farmer knelt down at the boy’s side and said, “Son, you don’t want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you like these other dogs would.”

With that the little boy stepped back from the fence, reached down, and began rolling up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe. Looking back up at the farmer, he said, “You see sir, I don’t run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.”

With tears in his eyes, the farmer reached down and picked up the little pup.
Holding it carefully he handed it to the little boy. “How much?” asked the little boy.
“No charge,” answered the farmer, “There’s no charge for love.”

Don sent along the following:

Stephanie has been doing well at college (California State University Northridge, CSUN). She’ll start a year-long paralegal course next month for a license.
She particularly enjoys her journalism activities and is asked to cover things for her college newspaper because she is a good writer and is able to produce her articles quickly. Last night she covered an LA mayoral debate and wrote the cover story in less than an hour and a half. Here’s the cover of her college newspaper:
