Thanks for the letters DadH and Amy!

I PASSED my fourth exam, only 2 more to go!!!!
This was a squeeker, but I made it.

We had a great weekend, even though both Denise and I studied. Nathan’s friend Christine flew in from California. The two of them are having a great time. We sailed to Shell Island and walked the beach. As we were leaving, I found a $100 bill in the surf! Nate and Christine had walked right by it.

Nate and Christine then spent about two hours swimming in the pool while I studied. We then had to spend our fortune for dinner, and a movie for Nate and Christine.

Happy Birthday to Stephen (Donald’s son) and Karen (David’s daughter)!!

Fathers Day was excellent, I got to talk to my Dad (he is up in Maine), my daughter Amy sent me a gift cirtificate, Nate washed and waxed my car, and Denise got me new clothes!! I hear that Fathers Day in Maine went well too:

Father’s Day in Maine
It was a beautiful day for flying so Jean and I decided to visit Dad in Bar
Harbor. After a quick, smooth flight we were picked up by Dad and the three
of us went to church in Ellsworth. Then Dan took us all out to eat at the
Log Cabin restaurant next to Pirates Cove miniature golf course. A delicious
meal and then Dad, David, Jean and Trevor were treated to a round of golf.
(I won.) Dad then returned us to the airport and with a 20 knot tailwind we
zipped home.

I PASSED my third exam, only 3 more to go!!!!

We had a good weekend, mostly study, but went to two parties! The exam was very hard (most of my class failed it) but I had a sample test I found on the net which had several of the lengthy problems on it, that saved me time and gave me confidence!

Denise passed her mid term and is staying home Mondays to study. Nate is doing well. He works every day and enjoys the kids. Nate has become an informal Big Brother to little Nate, a 10 year old. The two Nates went out in the dingy and went fishing yesterday. Little Nate caught three hammerhead sharks! They were about 2 fet long and Nate got them back into the water. Little Nate was very excited though!

Floor to Darrell:

Hello everyone and special congrats to Jim and Michelle on their newest addition. Children are indeed a blessing, aren’t they? 🙂 It’s great to see the Herrick name carried on. I wanted to fill everyone in on news from my section of the world. I would like to introduce all of you to a woman I’ve know almost a year. From the moment I met her, knew that there was something special about this lady and I fell in love. Her name is Marilyn Cabri, she is 40 years old and has two teenage daughters – Tina (15) Tami (12). We have been dating since September (with a couple of brief interruptions) and decided that we would make a commitment with each other just recently. We are not engaged but are living together with the intentions of getting married in the future. I hope you all get to meet her in the near future, maybe we can plan a trip up north sometime soon. Adam is living with his mother this summer and Tyler and Caleb are doing just fine. Justin changed jobs and is now working at Applebees in Largo. Hello to you all and sorry this is so short, I’m busy at work…Love to all, Darrell, Marilyn and kids

The floor goes to Dan:

Dear All:

Sue and Dave already know, Dad’s doing well, visiting in Bar Harbor for the month of June, then off to Sue’s for July and David’s for August.   Dad is staying in the 5th wheel at Hadley Point CG.  He has a cell phone in the camper, to reach him, call 207-266-0480.  It is best to call after 7 PM (cheaper and more likely to catch him there.)  He is working a few hours a day at Pirate’s Cove.  Yesterday as a cashier and at the club return window.  Haven’t had a chance to ask him how that went, he went to Brewer to attend church with some people (snow birds) from Florida.  His other job has been to do any odd job around the course.  He’s dug holes, hooked up electrical outlets, trimmed shrubs and he’s going to build some shelves for soda (pop).   Across from Pirate’s Cove is the Yankee Chowder House North. The same people who run the Yankee Chowder House in Zephyrhills decided to lease the restaurant at the High Seas Motel.  Darrell may remember this restaurant which use to be a night club at night.  Remember the good times at that place Darrell???   Dad took the family out to eat on their opening night Friday.  We were the only customers there……opening night was a hurry up affair.  Dad felt right at home and was well received by the same waitress staff that work in Florida.Courtney graduates next Friday, 6-11-99.  She is going to attend the University of Maine at Orono in their honors program, majoring in French….wants to do something like translating or teaching.  She had her senior prom last night….my little girl is all grown up.   Sue, Dave and John, I know how you felt when your girls are no longer little girls.  At least she will be close enough to visit Mom and Dad on weekends.Trevor and Courtney are both working at Pirate’s Cove,  Courtney as Assistant Manager while the regular Assistant Manager is out having her baby.  Candy will be in school until June 21st., Trevor until June 18.
Will let you know more as time permits…Dan

And then to Don:

Well, there have been big changes with us over here on the left coast.Kathryn’s and my divorce has been finalized.  Although it is unfortunate andsad for all of us, we are looking at it as an opportunity for newbeginnings.
As you may recall, our house has been sold.  Closing is scheduled for Friday and Kathryn and the kids will be vacating by Saturday.  They will be staying in temporary housing for a few weeks.  Kathryn is in the process of purchasing two houses in Seattle.  One will be used for rental income and they will live in the other, with an eye on eventually offering that one as a rental property as well.
Although I am not terribly happy staying in the motorhome, I will stay in it for a while.  House prices have not moderated here in Silicon Valley, in fact the median home price increased $100K in the past year, so I have decided not to purchase a home here right now.  I have decided to use my equity to purchase a condominium in downtown Seattle.  Closing on that is scheduled for the end of June.  I plan on staying there when I go to Washington for visitation, and I may eventually move to Seattle.  The condo is new and pleasant, in a lovely part of Seattle called Belltown, a few blocks from the Seattle waterfront.
Stephen is doing fine, reading up a storm.  He finished Tolkien’s Lord of the Rings and is reading The Hobbit.  Athletically he doesn’t do so well and complains about the vocabulary of his classmates.  Now he wants to be a comedian when he grows up.  Sounds like me at that age.  He will be in California with me for July and August.
Stephanie has been accepted at Dartmouth’s Debate Institute this summer and will be spending the end of July and the beginning of August there in New Hampshire.  She will be staying with Sue for a week before the debate camp.  Thanks Sue and Al for your help and hospitality.  Stephanie just received a Journalism award.  Journalism and photography are her interests right now, but she would like to use her debating skills to become a lawyer.
I’m still plugging along with my hang-gliding, usually I glide both Saturdays and Sundays.  I’m looking forward to going on a flying ‘safari’ with friends probably in July.
I’ll close now.  I’ll provide new addresses and phone numbers when we all settle.  E-mail addresses will stay the same.
Don

I have been studying every spare minute for my MCSE exams. I have the first of six exams on Monday afternoon. Tonight Nate and I will be going to the Devil Rays vs the Marlins this evening. Last weekend Nate painted the bottom of the dingy so we can leave it in the water and it will not get barnacles.

Happy birthday to Candy and happy anniversary to Sue and Al. David wrote and said he and Jean are heading to your place Sue, have a great time all!
