Thanks to Amy, and the book she sent to me, I now know which mangrove out back is which!

Above is the Black Mangrove, grows to 60 feet tall, bark is gray to brown.

Above is the Red Mangrove, grows to 50′, bark is gray, has “prop roots”.

Above is the White Mangrove, grows to 50′, bark is reddish brown!

No wonder I was confused, the White Mangrove has red bark and the Black and Red Mangrove have gray bark!

Yellow Crowned Night Heron in a White Mangrove!

I still do not know what these birds are doing:

Note from Michelle:

Hello everyone.  We hope all is well with all of you.  Things here are crazy as usual.  Jim has an interview with a very good chance with a company in Portland next Tuesday.  Not as close to Bangor as we hoped, but it looks like a great opportunity if all works out.

Corbin had his last ball game on Sat.  The last two innings he was pitched to and hit very well.  He had a great time.  Joyce and Armand were able to come down and enjoy the day with us.  The team had a field day with games.  They did a tug of war against the coaches and a pie eating contest.  And they got trophies.  A very exciting morning.  Then we rushed home to get ready for Camryn’s dance recital.  I do believe her class stole the show.  They were the last act before the finale.  How can you not ohh and ahh over 10 little 4 year olds in yellow tutus.  She did very good for as many people they were in the audience.  It was very exciting for her.  Her first big thing that was all for her.  She was beautiful.  Here are a few pictures to enjoy.  Love to all.  Michelle

Note from Jim:

We had a hot weekend here in Southern Maine .  Corbin’s t-ball team had a cookout/pool party.  A great time was had by all.  The coaches are great with the kids.  This weekend is the league cookout, but they wanted to do something special for the kids.  They gave them some treats and a baseball water bottle.  The highlight was the awards.  They bought medals for the team and wrote something on the back of each.  Corbin was awarded the fearsome foursome hitting award along with Tommy, Zach and James.  They call them that because when those boys hit the other teams get nervous.  Those 4 hit the ball to the fence almost every time.  Corbin was very proud.  Camryn was happy to be swimming all day long.  A fish just like mom was.  She was also because the party was at her friend Gina’s house.  Gina is the coach’s wife.  Camryn took a special liking to this very sweet and sincere woman.  It was a nice time.  Hope to talk to you all soon.  This weekend is Father’s Day and Corbin’s last game with cookout and Camryn’s dance recital.  Busy, full and fun.  Take care  Herricks

Our new Beta fish (for Pam’s office):

This is one wild video, take it from someone who has skydived!

http://www.skydive.tv/Reelintro.htm

It is June already!! I have been working hard on my new courses, working on Pam’s daughter’s wedding slideshow and interviewing for jobs. I have two more interviews this week, one one for Pinellas County, one for Hillsborough County! Either one would be great! I am currently “working” part time (have yet to start though) for a company in Tampa. They need someone on board who is an engineer for the licensing and name, but they have no work for the engineer. If I wanted to, I could go get some work and do it, but I am more interested in working for a county where I can extend my pension.

Butterflies:

2:35:33 PM the one on the top changed, then the caterpillar directly below it dropped.

2:36:06 the skin broke:

2:36:44 (38 seconds later):

2:36:49 (45 seconds from the start):

One web site I was on ( http://www.kidzone.ws/animals/monarch_butterfly.htm ) said that this is  “a process which is completed in a matter of hours. ” If you saw the beginning and came back in an hour, you surely would have missed it!

E-Mail from Jim:

I watched the flag pass by one day,
It fluttered in the breeze.

A young Soldier saluted it,
And then he stood at ease . . .

I looked at him in uniform
So young, so tall, so proud,
With hair cut square and eyes alert
He’d stand out in any crowd.

I thought how many men like him
Had fallen through the years.
How many died on foreign soil
How many mothers’ tears?

How many pilots’ planes shot down?
How many died at sea
How many foxholes were soldiers’ graves?
No, freedom isn’t free.

I heard the sound of Taps one night,
When everything was still,
I listened to the bugler play
And felt a sudden chill.
I wondered just how many times
That Taps had meant “Amen,”

When a flag had draped a coffin.
Of a brother or a friend.

I thought of all the children,
Of the mothers and the wives,
Of fathers, sons and husbands
With interrupted lives.

I thought about a graveyard
At the bottom of the sea

Of unmarked graves in Arlington .
No – freedom isn’t free.

And from Michelle:

Corbin has lost his first tooth.

Jim is waiting to hear from GE in Pittsfield , and had a phone interview with Aldephia in Winslow.

Things here are busy but good.  Camryn is becoming a very big girl.  Here are some Memorial day pics and tooth pics.

Is she a beauty!!:

Corbin will grow into these someday:

Enjoy.

Email from David:

To all friends and family,
Jean is home and doing superb.
To those hearing for the first time, Jean went into the hospital last
Monday with severe headaches and very high blood pressure. Thanks to the
miracles of modern medicine, they were able to get things under control in
the day she was in intensive care. Then the testing and consultations, blood
work, CAT scans, kidney biopsy, poking and prodding proceeded for a few
days. Saturday she was released to come home and she is home resuming her
daily activities.
Test results may shed some light on the cause, possibly we will just thank
the Lord that she is back to normal.
Many thanks to all who supported and prayed.

David
