The above link is to a very important recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance. I am so glad that the judge struck his decision.

We had a great sail today, we got to see the Tall Ships up close! We sailed all around to them and back, it took us from 9 AM till 5 PM. I got some sun!

I am writing my new course on asphalt  tonight.

I see Donald has added his location to the guest map in the upper left corner, anyone else?

I got a raise and an increase on vacation time of 5 days per year! Jim’s sister and niece came over last night to spend the night, Jim’s bedroom has no AC. I am getting a new (used) stove delivered this afternoon. Tomorrow Jim, sister, niece and I are going out to sail with the “tall ships”!!!!

Then Saturday I worked on the move of the Education Div. and then went to David Chitester’s 50th birthday bash, and what a party that was!! Sunday I worked on (and completed) my latest RedVector course. Today I got a call from the Florida Engineering Society (Pinellas Chapter). They want me to be inducted into their program to become the next President!!!!!!!!!! WOW.

I had a nice long conversation with Amy, she is taking care of a little boy 3 hours a day and they are otherwise fine.

I spent the weekend helping Jim remove and install a new floor in his home. The old floor had disintegrated and you had to step on the beams or go through! He had been living that way since February, so I convinced him it was time to do something!!

Jean sent more pictures:

Hi John, Dan treated us to a round of golf Saturday morning. Our boys
Stephen and Mark loved it. Here are some pictures.

I talked a while with Al, they have had some torrential rains, washed out portions of their road, the Town lost a bridge, some vehicles were washed away and roads are closed!! Their newly planted garden was awash as well. Al has been having fun with his sawmill, cutting up the logs we timbered last winter.

Tracey and her husband have moved to Boston (I will update the data page when I get the new phone and address). Her husband is going to go to MIT to get two master’s degrees.

Mike McVetty is starting his “Trek across Maine” on bike this weekend!

Dad and Betty are having fun, been over to Sue’s, Camden State Park, Rockland, Montpellier, Owls Head, etc. and are headed for Brewer today, Bar Harbor tomorrow for Trevor’s graduation, then back to Vermont for the weekend. They have not stopped yet!!

I did have my first bass lesson Monday, I learned that I have a lot to learn!! I have made a few more animal cutouts, and have been practicing my new skills on the bass.

I knew we went through a storm Saturday but I did not know that a quarter mile away…:

Tornado shreds homes along Florida beach
By the Associated Press
ST. PETE BEACH, Fla. (AP) — A tornado ripped off roofs and smashed windows of about 40 homes along this Pinellas County beach, but no serious injuries were reported. The twister Saturday afternoon rendered about 10 of the homes temporarily uninhabitable, city officials said.Witnesses reported seeing the funnel cloud as it roared down streets and canals, uprooting trees as it skipped along a residential neighborhood.”It came right down the waterway. Half of it was in my yard, half in the water,” Dave Evans said from his waterfront home.”The tunnel was 200 feet high, full of debris … You could see big pieces of roofs, screens, tree branches and shingles, all moving in a tight circle about 40 yards wide. You could hear stuff hitting the house,” Evans said.Twenty-five to 40 homes had some damage, 15 to 20 need extensive repairs, and 10 to 12 are uninhabitable, Assistant Fire Chief Tom Malone said. The twister was spawned by a large storm system that dropped heavy rain and flooded streets in areas across southern Pinellas County and parts of Hillsborough County.

I have been having fun, with no time to update this web page! Jacque is back, as a friend. I have been sailing every Saturday with Jim; and a different woman every weekend. I have been cutting out animals and cartoon characters from wood. I sent a pair to Sue and Al, they sent me their delicious Maple Syrup!! I also have been keeping busy writing courses and putting them up on the internet (www.redvector.com).

I begin lessons on my bass tonight! Joel, the president of the group I play with (BAFA, Bay Area Fiddlers Assn.) convinced me that I do need lessons. He says I need to learn “patterns”, and “chords 1, 4, & 5” whatever all that means!
