Mom’s Sugar Cookies
- 4 cups – flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 3/4 teaspoon salt
- 3/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 cup butter
- 1 1/2 cup sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla
- 2 eggs
- 3/4 cup sour cream
Sift flour with baking powder, baking soda, salt and nutmeg.
Cream butter, adding sugar, vanilla. Beat and add the 2 eggs.
Add flour mix alternatively with sour cream.
Mix until smooth.
Chill in bowl overnight
Roll out 1/3 of the dough at a time to 1/4 inch thick.
Cut out desired shapes and place on a greased cookie sheet.
Bake at 450° about 6 minutes
Makes 40 cookies – cool down
Icing
1. 1/2 stick softened butter
2. 1 pound confectioners sugar
3. add milk to make smooth
Divide into bowls, add food coloring as desired
