Boat

7-26-2010

I bought a boat! It is a 1979 Mako 21 foot long.

Had a fun day taking 4 people out for a ride to the beach on Shell Key!

My Mako with replaced engine and all new paint:

And so, in 2020, 10 years later, after 3 new (used) engines, I could not find another engine. I did find one over in Orlando for $14,000 but I had to go get it and install it. None of the mechanics I had worked with over the years were still in the business. There is NO way I could transport a 500 pound engine, much less install it!!! So, I gave the boat away. A sad day, but it was costing me a lot.
$2,400 per year in slip rental
$480 a year in bottom cleaning.
$500 a year bottom paint.
$1,500 a year on average for engine replacements.
Fuel, etc, ran it over $5000 a year. $100 every time I took it out!
So, let someone else have fun with it.
