April 29, 1998

Our anniversay was today. Denise had been up all last night so she was not to anxious to go out and celebrate, so she made some delicious spagetti instead. I put together two different networks of computers the past few days at work, that was interesting! Don, do you know if TCP/IP and the network are incompatible? I have had quite a time after making a serial network (Direct Cable Connect) between two computers, then trying to get the one back out on the net via the modem.

I will be off to Dallas, Texas for the next two days, will be back in Tampa Friday at 11:48 PM!

April 26 update:

Pictures of the Triathalon.(and of Mom and Dad H’s new sliding glass door, very impressive!)

You won’t believe this but Denise, who has never swum a mile race in her life, has entered the Iron Man Marathon this morning. She has to swim a mile, bike 24 miles and run 6.2 miles. Wish her luck!!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY Denise!!
It is 1:AM and Denise is home from work, she had a transplant tonight. Both of us took tomorrow to celebrate her birthday. Tonight I baked her a cake and got her a few small gifts, one a board to ski behind her father’s boat. She is up taking a bubble bath now, tomorrow she says she wants to sleep the day away!

We ran a 5K race (3.1 miles) last night! Denise ran it in 32 minutes and I make it in 40 minutes!! We then celebrated by eating pizza provided by my boss. We had a great time. This morning neither of us is even sore, we did well for people who never run. Two of the guys in our office ran it in 22 minutes, my boss made it in 25 minutes and three others made it in before I did, so we had a good showing, Denise was the first woman for our group though. We had 8 guys and 8 women who ran.

The boat looks sharp, we washed and waxed everything in sight! Now we won’t be so upset if someone comes to look at it!

PICTURES, Denise let me take pictures of our purchase, now her mom has seen it! You do have to see it in person to appreciate it though. The artist did an exceptional job making the wall hanging.

Well, it was back to the Mainsail Art Show again this morning, we bought one item, Denise says I am not to tell anyone what it is or take a picture of it, just let you see it when you come to visit! It has changed out livingroom though! We are supposed to wash and wax the deck this afternoon, I need a nap though, after all this excitement!

We worked hard this week and took ourselves out to eat every night! We have found where we can eat well for $10 and only splurged once. Today we worked all day on the boat. We cleaned and waxed the topsides and stern (the topsides are from the waterline up to the toerail). It was a lot of work but we did it together and it looks fantastic. We then went to the Mainsail Art show downtown, with the XTREME sports show right next door. We walked the entire show looking for something for Denise for her birthday. She finally settled on a small wooden table and rocking chair. We brought them home and Denise is rocking in it right now! We plan to clean the deck and the inside of the boat tomorrow, the weather is so perfect!

We sailed down to Sarasota and anchored out for three days. On one day we walked the eight miles to Mom and Dad L’s house, they gave us a ride back thank goodness because I had blisters and had chaffed my inner leg pretty bad. Denise said this was a trial run for out April 22 run. We then spent one day (Friday) at home resting up. Denise spent Saturday shopping with her mom and I spent the day with Mom and Dad H. Mom now has a 486 computer with a new audio card and a card with attached CD player. I left her with about a dozen CD’s for her to pick and chose from (programs to install) but she has no CD’s with music! It took a while to get both the new cards to be recognised by Windows 95 correctly. Then I re installed Nivia and converted the pictures to .bmp files for the program to recognise them (for her screen saver). Mom made a great Easter dinner (and sent us home with a lot of Toll House cookies!). Darrell came and gave the neighbor, Denise and MOM a ride on his Honda Gold Wing! PICTURES

We have been so busy!!! It has been a whirlwind end of the week, Both Denis and I wrapped up many things at work, Denise turned in her beeper to a co worker Friday night up in Clearwater so we went out to eat in a Mexican place there. We then rented two movies, The Full Monty (quite good) and The Man Who Knew Too Little (good movie but weak ending). On Saturday morning we got the boat ready. Then at 1PM four Russian nurses and three other people came for a sail. We went down to Shell Island and had a great time swimming and collecting shells. PICTURES When we got back, Denise’s parents, her sister Diane, and Diane’s parents George and Pricilla were all here waiting for us. We partied till 11 and Dad and Mom L. slept over the night. We got up late this morning and went to the Don Cesar for their Sunday brunch! This was an incredible brunch, complementary champagne all kinds of food, all kinds of deserts. They had three chefs waiting to take your order of omletes, waffles, etc. The view is spectacular too, looking out over the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. Dad L. worked out on the bench before we got up this morning and Mom L. cleaned up the kitched from the night before’s detritus.
Today we were going to cast off for a few days R&R, but the tide got away from us so I baked a loaf of bread and we will leave in the morning. Denise is going shopping this evening and I will veg here!

We are on VACATION!
