I&#8217;m not going anywhere.&#8221;<\/p><p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Pritzker vowed: &#8220;I will not back down.<\/p><p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">&#8220;Trump is now calling for the arrest of elected representatives checking his power. What else is left on the path to full-blown authoritarianism?&#8221;<\/p><p>U.S. President Donald Trump on Wednesday called for jailing Chicago&#8217;s mayor and the governor of Illinois, both Democrats, as military officials said on Wednesday 500 National Guard troops were now in place to be deployed in the third-largest U.S. city.<\/p><p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\">Trump has previously called the city a &#8220;war zone&#8221; amid protests against immigration enforcement.<b id=\"\" class=\"sc-d16436d-0 kPzeuB\">\u00a0<\/b>Pritzker has called the president&#8217;s actions &#8220;authoritarian&#8221;.<\/p><p class=\"sc-9a00e533-0 bJoRPJ\"><strong>The Republican president spoke as hundreds of National Guard troops arrived in the city as part of his immigration crackdown.<\/strong><\/p><hr \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9860bb2 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"9860bb2\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>10-8-2025 Trump ongoing terrorism<\/p><p><strong>Trump has redefined the boundaries of\u00a0 enforcement in numerous ways:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>by detaining people without due process, some of whom have inevitably turned out to be citizens;<\/li><li>by seizing law-enforcement powers from states and localities; by employing masked agents who don\u2019t always identify their agency, and who have frequently attacked journalists and bystanders.<\/li><li>These actions have generated public pushback, and even isolated and horrifying acts of violence\u2014but hardly an insurrection.As the ruling turning down Trump\u2019s demand to federalize law enforcement in Oregon notes, the administration\u2019s assertion that Portland is in a state of revolution musters a total of four episodes of threatening behavior by protesters to justify this claim.<\/li><li>One of the incidents is \u201cprotesters setting up a makeshift guillotine to intimidate federal officials.\u201d<\/li><li>Another was \u201csomeone posting a photograph of an unmarked ICE vehicle online.\u201d<\/li><li>The other two involved flashlights being shone in the faces of agents driving vehicles.These incidents may be regrettable, but they do not even constitute actual violence, let alone terrorism.<\/li><\/ul><p>Trump is the modern day fascist:<\/p><ul><li>Authoritarianism \u2013 Strong central power, he has no tolerance for opposition or dissent. Says his opposition should be in jail, initiates court cases and FBI searches of his opposition. Soliciting bribes from companies such as Intel.<\/li><li>Nationalism \u2013 Extreme pride in himself, often paired with xenophobia (fear or hatred of outsiders or foreigners). He hates brown people.<\/li><li>Suppression of democracy \u2013 Weakening or abolishing democratic institutions like free elections, independent courts, or a free press. Every day promoting States getting himself more votes.<\/li><li>Militarism &amp; violence \u2013 Belief in using force, war, or paramilitary groups to achieve political goals. Sending troops to LA, Chicago, etc. and taking over DC.<\/li><li>Control over society \u2013 Heavy regulation or control of culture, media, and sometimes the economy to serve the state\u2019s goals. Regulating universities and museums. Taking over the Kennedy Center, and bullying companies. Illogical hysterical reaction to Tylenol.<\/li><li>Cult of leadership \u2013 Glorification of a single leader (himself) who is portrayed as the embodiment of the nation, selected by God, etc.<\/li><\/ul><hr \/>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-498a0b3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"498a0b3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"Y3BBE\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-hveid=\"CAEQAA\" data-processed=\"true\">10-8-2025 <strong>Trump believes he is all powerful<br \/><\/strong>The idea that the U.S. President has &#8220;plenary authority&#8221; under Title 10 of the U.S. Code is a false and misleading legal claim. While Title 10 grants the President significant authority over the armed forces, including the ability to federalize the National Guard, this power is not absolute or without limits.<span class=\"uJ19be notranslate\" data-wiz-uids=\"V0XBpc_f,V0XBpc_g\" data-processed=\"true\"><span class=\"vKEkVd\" data-animation-atomic=\"\" data-processed=\"true\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/div><div class=\"AdPoic\" role=\"heading\" aria-level=\"3\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-processed=\"true\">Limitations on the President&#8217;s authority under Title 10<\/div><ul class=\"U6u95\" data-processed=\"true\"><li style=\"list-style-type: none;\"><ul class=\"U6u95\" data-processed=\"true\"><li data-hveid=\"CAMQAA\" data-processed=\"true\"><span class=\"T286Pc\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-processed=\"true\"><strong class=\"Yjhzub\" data-processed=\"true\">Constitutional checks and balances:<\/strong>\u00a0The U.S. Constitution, which establishes a separation of powers, prevents any single branch of government from having limitless authority. The President&#8217;s power is checked by Congress and the federal courts.<\/span><\/li><li data-hveid=\"CAMQAQ\" data-processed=\"true\"><span class=\"T286Pc\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-processed=\"true\"><strong class=\"Yjhzub\" data-processed=\"true\">Explicit restrictions:<\/strong>\u00a0The authority granted to the President under Title 10 is tied to specific, legally defined circumstances, such as responding to an invasion, a rebellion, or the inability of states to enforce federal law.<\/span><\/li><li data-hveid=\"CAMQAg\" data-processed=\"true\"><span class=\"T286Pc\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-processed=\"true\"><strong class=\"Yjhzub\" data-processed=\"true\">Judicial oversight:<\/strong>\u00a0Courts can, and have, reviewed the President&#8217;s actions under Title 10. For instance, courts have ruled that the conditions for federalizing the National Guard were not met in cases related to protests, invalidating the executive action.<\/span><\/li><li data-hveid=\"CAMQAw\" data-processed=\"true\"><span class=\"T286Pc\" data-sfc-cp=\"\" data-processed=\"true\"><strong class=\"Yjhzub\" data-processed=\"true\">Posse Comitatus Act:<\/strong>\u00a0This law generally prohibits the use of the military for domestic law enforcement<span id=\"iTqbmaIPhDpaUwbkP3ovH8QI_1\" data-processed=\"true\">.
