I got dad's old computer working again! The 5 1/4 drive is so old it will not match the new systems, so I will take it back to him and he can use it until it dies! I also have both of my computers running but I think I have a bad NIC card or something, they can see themselves OK but not each other! Never ending!

Beautiful weather!!!

Carol has sent me some genealogy data but I have had little time to incorporate it, thanks Carol, I WILL get to it!!

We took the sugar free brownies up to Dad H's today! Darrell and Marilyn came up as well and we had an imprompto birthday part for dad! We decorated the porch and had a fine time playing cribbage and looking at pictures. Dad blew out the candle on the brownies after making a wish! Darrell let Denise and I take the Honda Goldwing for a run, Denise loved it!
We brought home a pile of oranges and grapefruit from dad's trees, and dad's old computer. It was an old "portable" IBM (a 286 MHz) that dad has been playing with for years. It must weigh 50 pounds and needs 120 volt current, so, it may have a handle, but it hardly is portable. The hard drive finally cannot boot it. I decided to scavenge the 5 1/4 drive out of it to maybe work with legacy data (if the need ever arises!).

Our client was in Thursday and we have all been busy getting things ready for them, then sending things they asked for out after they left! Busy, busy!

Denise visited her parents yesterday. We stayed home and ran errands today, the car stopped giving heat so we stopped to have it fixed this morning, as I stood there showing the mechanic how there was no heat, it heated up!! Brother. Denise has been cooking up a storm, and wonderful foods too, she is making sugar free brownies right now!

We had fun at the Loiselle's. We had a great dinner of - gasp - Mom L's famous lasagna. Then Dad L., his brother Paul, and I went for a walk while Mom L., Claire, and Denise talked up a storm. We watched both the Jaguars and the Bucs lose. At least they both made it this far!!
When I got home I found that the boot problem on one of my computers had gotten so bad I had to take it in! We are a one computer family for a while!

Denise went to school today and I spent the whole day sleeping and working on the computers. I finally got both computers fully operational (all sound cards, scanner, camera, com ports, modems, network adapters, etc. etc. all in place -- thank goodness for http://www.windrivers.com and http://www.driverguide.com). I installed Windows 98 (second edition) so that now Denise and I can both search the net at the same time!! Tonight we went for a run(Denise) walk(me). Tomorrow we will be going to Dad and Mom L's.

We are back! We left yesterday morning for a bike ride. We biked all the way to Dunedin again, about 26 miles, and went to the Art Festival. It did not have anything very new. We had left about noon to bike there so it was about dusk when we were done biking, walking the show, and eating dinner. We decided to stay the night in a motel. First we tried the one by where we ate, they were a tad expensive; then we tried a bed and breakfast, they were full; then we tried a motel on the main street, Denise said that the motel would have to pay her a lot to stay there. So, we ended up back at the first one. It was really neat, it is built out over the water so we had a water view from both sides! It also had vaulted ceilings and a well stocked refrigerator, we were in heaven! Then the neighbors came. The walls were so thin you could here any ordinary conversation. The neighbors to the west had company, the company had won the Readers Digest Sweepstakes and were so excited, the neighbors on the other side had their TV going, thankfully tuned to the BUC's game as well (go BUC's). To make a long story short, it was a sleepless night (and an interesting morning when one of the gay guys to our east had to go to the bathroom and his roommate was in there!). They did have a great free breakfast, cereal, English muffins, juice, apples oranges, etc., etc..So, we started bicycling back, we took several side trips, including one to see the Bellview Biltmore (gorgeous) and had traveled about 15 miles when Denise got a flat tire. She walked her bike three miles. I was about to lock the bikes to a tree and grab a bus or passing taxi when an 80 year old man named Clarence stopped Denise and asked her what the matter was. He pulled out a tire pump, tools to remove the old tire, and a spare tube!! All out of a pouch he had under his seat! We were so glad he came along! His pump would not fit the tube but another nice couple came along, they had a CO2 pump. The CO2 did not work but it had a rubber gasket in it that I was able to remove and mate with Clarence's pump! We got enough air into the tire to get back on the road again! We made it back home without further trouble. We will carry our own tools next time!!

It is a NEW YEAR!

As I predicted on December 21, 1999: "With all of the promotion of the new year, it seems that the actual day will be a non-event in comparison.", the actual day was a "non-event", but the graduation and Wedding were fantastic, thanks to Nate and Christine and Christine's mom!

The bride-to-be Christine and Denise's daughter Audra, the bridesmaid!

Christine and Nathan (Mr and Mrs. Groom). Don't they make quite the couple!!

I worked 12 hours a day all week, then went to Dad H's to help him on his computer and for good conversation on Saturday while Denise went to school all day. Then today we packed up some goodies and took them to the Loiselle's. We celebrated a late birthday for Dad L. as well as Christmas. They are both having lots of 'fun' with colds, but doing fine. We tried to get Dad L's computer up and running, we got a lot of things done but could not get the microphone to work, same as mine. I guess I need lessons on getting microphones to work. We got the camera to work and took a few snapshots, but even with new drivers and putting the settings in order, neither the built-in microphone nor the external microphone will work. Anyone got any ideas?

Denise ran and I bicycled tonight, both of us feel better getting some exercise!
