Been busy, Friday Fiddlers, Saturday Jim came over and we
played chess (beat him twice!) then Jackie came over, watched a movie, Sunday
worked in the back yard, went to dinner with Phil, then met Southern Comfort
Bill and Canada John at Captain K's where I met Colleen from M\New Zealand. She
is "on holiday" so I will be joining her to go to the Aquarium this
afternoon!

It has been an interesting time, I painted the front of the
condo Wednesday night, then went up to Betty and dad's for dinner last night. My
first real meal in a week! They gave me a patio table and chairs for use as a
dining table! It looks nice, for now, it works; now I have two chairs in the
house!
Thanks for the check Dan, you did not have to do that! You guys had to pay to
get here, I did not, but right now it will come in very handy, Thanks.
I finally get everything in it's place, and a phone on every floor (thanks to
Dan). I have no shelves nor tables (and no mantle either!) so it is easy to
clean up tomorrow (tonight is Fiddlers). Sue and Al gave me the wedge from the
giant tree we cut down. I fastened it to the wall under the phone in the garage.
It now is a convenient "table" to take notes while on the phone; and a
nice reminder of our trip to Vermont last year. I need to build a new mantle and
a workbench in the garage, well it will have to wait awhile until the dust
settles and I have finances.
At the bottom of this page is the list of places and years we were going to get
together. Shall we assume that our meeting at dad's was our 2002 meeting? Or
does everyone want to go to Sue and Al's sometime this year? Sugaring time?
Plant garden time? Harvest time? Cut firewood time? Please get back to me,
thanks. Now that I have my place back, I am back on track for 2003!!!!!!!

I worked on MY HOME for hours this weekend. It was so satisfying. I saw a lady out in the mangroves, so I went out to see what was going on, she was cleaning out the weeds and detritus that had floated in so I decided to help. I lopped off the mangrove bushes that had grown up past 6 feet tall and trimmed the suckers that had grown out of the trunks of the mangrove trees. We worked from 2PM till dark. This improved the view considerably.
Since Sept 11, there has been a great change in our community. Instead of complaining that the condo has not done enough to keep up the buildings, everyone has pitched in! We are painting the entire outside ourselves! They got 600 gallons of paint and everyone has pitched in! We cleaned the mangroves, and, with the new roof, everything is looking super!!
Note from Dan,
I've got a little good news too. I took my
Instrument rating check ride this past Saturday, 2-16-02. It was a
beautiful day although challenging since the air was warming rapidly and that
created a very bouncy and unstable ride. But despite a shaky (nervous)
start and with every effort to on my part, I passed and now have
my instrument rating. Yeah... I don't have to go through that ever again.
Now I'm considering wrapping up my flight training with a commercial rating,
only need another 65 hours and not too much more money on lessons. My next
door neighbor just became a Certified Flight Instructor and has two planes that
are high performance, complex airplanes needed for some of those hours.
With a Commercial rating I could recoup some of my expenditures on flying by
occasionally flying for a local scenic flying company or flying fire patrols
during the summer (looking for forest fires). Just what I need, another
summer job....

It is soooo great living in my own home. The view is as great as I every remembered it, the place has a new roof and I will be painting the outside next. Now, with a new roof, new hardwood floors, new furniture, I have quite the new place!
I plan on going to the State Fair tomorrow, a new lease on life! Wish me luck!

Glad everybody came down for the wedding; hope everyone's package gets to them soon. I lost 12 pounds last weekend but I would not recommend the process to anyone. I finally have the house presentable for sale.
I have initiated a hearing Thursday, wish me luck!

I got a note from Rod, our newest brother, he has the best pictures I have ever seen of a wedding!!
I have put a link below to get to some
of the pictures I took at the wedding on Saturday. Just click on any of the
small pictures to see a large photo. At the bottom of the page are some
instructions, although you probably already know how to save pictures to your
own computer and then import them into a Word or WordPerfect document to resize
them.
Could you please pass the address below on to everyone since I only have your
e-mail addresses. Thanks!
From the "new" kid...

p.s.
It was great to meet you and I hope to get to know you and your family
better.
ANYWAY
What
you spend years building, someone
could
destroy overnight.
Build
anyway.
If
you find serenity and happiness,
they
may be jealous;
Be
happy anyway.
The
good you do today,
people
will often forget tomorrow;
Do
good anyway.
Give
the world the best you have,
and
it may never be enough;
Give
the world the best you've got anyway.
You
see, in the final analysis,
it
is between you and God;
it
was never between you and them anyway.
