We had a good time with Amy at Dad's. We ate at the "Chowda" House and then saw them off. We then came home and spent Sunday cleaning up and shopping. I spent an hour in the swimming pool and Denise went in to work for 4 hours. We watched "Life after Death" on TV  when sne got home!

e-MAIL from my brother Dave's son:

Hello family,

I know that it has been a pretty rough month here, but Michelle and I would like to share a little bit of good news.  We are expecting a child.  Michelle is pregnant, and she should give birth to the newest member of the Herrick family in January or February.  I guess life really is a circle, huh?  Well, just wanted to share the good news and hopefully brighten everyone's day.

Love, Jim, Michelle, and family

Finally things are more settled here, work is going well, we are getting profit sharing now where I work! I do not think it will amount to very much, but Chitester Management is showing a profit! They are starting to pay off their debt anyway. And now I am spending more of their money buying a network, I have settled on recommending a Compaq Proliant 1600 300. We spent the evening last night with a co-worker of Denise's. They have two adorable kids!

Plans change! We spent Sunday at Mom and Dad L's, it is always a pleasure to spend time either with Denise's parents or mine, they always treat us like royalty! Monday I worked very hard to complete the course I was writing on computers and on Tuesday I presented it. I took along a computer, two cpu chips a modem card, twelve memory cards, and several other props. I also had 14 books (about 125 pages that I had written) for the 12 people who had signed up. Seventeen people showed up! My presentation was a great success. My boss told me yesterday that he had received a lot of good comments about it. The two other presentations that went on simultaneously had the remainder of the 40 people who attended, but I snared the most important people, the two people from Tallahassee who control our contract with the FDOT, the ones who were paying us to be there!

Last night Dave, the guy that wrote out Web page for Chitester ( and the one who taught me to how to create this page!) came to our office to teach a course. I stayed and participated. Again I learned a lot from him! He showed me how we could get better access to the Internet than our competition for $1,000 than they got for $16,000 by setting up an ISDN connection rather than a fractional T1 line.

Anyone want to proof my course before I take it on the road?

Happy Mothers Day tomorrow!
We spent the night at Mom and Dad H's then Denise came home to study while I went to Roger's. Roger gave me two programs on CD's and a Polaroid Land camera! Tonight we cooked chicken on the Bar-B. Denise was so tired she has gone to bed, tomorrow she says she needs to study all day! I am going to play on the computer I guess. Don and Dave sent PICTURES

I am back from my trip to Columbia, South Carolina. On the trip I spent two nights in a nice Holiday Inn but got to see little of the countryside.... meeting rooms and airports only. The airport in Columbia is very nice. I did meet some nice people on the plane flights though. PICTURES
Don, I figured out my problems with TCP/IP. I just experimented until I found the right combination!!!The automatic setup of the drivers had all the protocols pointing to all the adapters. The Internet setup (the Dial-Up Adapter) cannot have the drivers bound to anything other than the TCP/IP. Now both the network and the Internet access work!
Mothers Day this weekend, we will most likely visit both of our mothers. Denise is studying for her masters so I will be visiting Roger Bansemer.

Had a good day today, got another small network setup, still having problems sharing TCP/IP between the network and the Internet, maybe I will put it up on the net to see if I can get an answer.

I am back from Dallas (got back last night) but got a call while we were in Dallas, now I have to be in South Carolina Tuesday thru Thursday this week!
We are taking the day off again today. I was trying to print out the pictures from Denise's triathalon and was having all kinds of problems. I finally found out that if I change the gamma factor of the monitor from 1 to 5, it works perfectly! Quite simple, but it took hours to find.
